Search Engine Watch’s Social Media Madness is almost over and Facebook has emerged in the lead. The top four contenders according to predictions are Facbook, Twitter, YouTube and Wikipedia. No surprise in having Facebook on the lead. What has come in as a surprise is that Erik Qualman says that Twitter might actually not make it to the big four.
The Social Media Madness started with 16 contenders for the Social Media King including Facebook, Yammer, Orkut, Del.icio.us, YouTube, LiveMocha, FriendFeed, MySpace, Wikipedia, Hulu, Hi5, Digg, Tweeter, Bebo, Flickr, and LinkedIn. Erik Qualman then listed each platform’s weaknesses and strengths and pointed out how each platform can help a company leverage its own brand before he proceeded to narrow it down to the last four contender’s, which though almost final is not yet that final. You can give your two cents worth by leaving a comment on Erik’s post, emailing him, messaging him on Twitter, and or voting on Facebook.
So what do I love about this Social Media Madness? Aside from the fact that a popularity contest amongst social media platforms is just so apt what I like about it is that Erik’s short summary of each platform. Very concise and useful for anyone who wants to compare each and see which ones they want to concentrate on and basic tips on how to benefit from each.
